| Mid-America Apartment Communities is a multifamily-focused, self-administered and self-managed real estate investment trust. Co. owns, operates, acquires and selectively develops apartment communities primarily located in the Southeast, Southwest and Mid-Atlantic regions of the U.S. Co. maintaines full or partial ownership of various apartment communities across several states and the District of Columbia. Co.'s business is conducted principally through its subsidiary, Mid-America Apartments, L.P. (the Operating Partnership). Co. is the sole general partner of the Operating Partnership.
